I am Heather, an experienced Lafayette, IN photographer

Drumroll please…it’s time for the boring {and typical} I began my love affair with photography at a young age. LOL. I always dreamt of having a newborn photography business.

I did photography in 4-H, took classes in High School, and worked in a portrait studio throughout college. Life happened. I married and had kids.

In spring 2018 I met Lindsey McCaffry, owner of McCaffry Photography LLC, and started working with her within two weeks. From the beginning, I told Lindsey I wanted to photograph newborns. Her response was always “I don’t do newborns. Nope, won’t touch them.” I remember talking to her about a photographer that I had discovered on Facebook and said, “I’m reaching out to her. I want to learn from her.”

In August of 2019, that dream became a reality when I attended a workshop that Amy Haehl of Coffee Creek Studio was co-hosting. If you aren’t familiar with her work google A Christmas Story newborn photo or babies with teeth. Soon after attending the workshop, I had a one-on-one mentoring session with Amy. Nearly three years later she still serves as my mentor.  She helped grow my love for this craft.

I have been fortunate to have two amazing mentors. Both have shared years of knowledge with me and if you are in photography, you know just how rare this gift is. They are a blessing.
